District Information
The Central District draws hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. Among the many attractions in the Central District are Fells Point, the Inner Harbor, Harbor East, Little Italy, Mount Vernon, Lexington Market, Maryland Science Center, National Aquarium, and dozens of world class restaurants.
Some of Baltimore's most well-known landmarks are also located in the Central District, including the Hippodrome Theatre, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, Baltimore Convention Center, Washington Monument and City Hall.
Additionally, the former site of Edgar Allan Poe’s home is now a thriving residential community that stands alongside the University of Maryland’s Biotech Campus.
Major Paul A. Sinchak
Major Paul A. Sinchak is currently the District Commander of the Central District.
Born in Arlington, Va., and raised in Anne Arundel County, Major Sinchak is a 15-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department. His previous assignments have included the Chief of Patrol's Office, Westside Initiative, Central District, Southwest District, Tactical Section’s Bomb Squad, K9 Unit, Mobile Metro Unit, and Underwater Recovery Team. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology & Sociology from Towson University, as well as a Certificate in Leadership from the University of Maryland University College. During his tenure he has received numerous recognitions, including the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and lifesaving awards.
Captain Tavon Adams
Captain Tavon Adams has been appointed Executive Officer of the Central District.
Captain Adams joined the BPD in 2002. He most recently served as Shift Commander in the Southern District. He has also served in the Southwestern, Northeastern and Northwestern Districts as an Officer and Sergeant. Captain Adams is a member of The BPD's Hostage Negotiations Team, Crisis Intervention Team and Officer Safety & Wellness Peer Support Team. He is a recipient of The Police Commissioner's Division Chief Award and Police Commissioner's Unit Citation Award. Captain Adams is also a graduate of the 21st Century Policing Leadership program.
Captain Adams was born and raised in East Baltimore. He proudly served in The United States Navy before joining The Baltimore Police Department.
