The Baltimore Police Department regrets to inform the Baltimore community that active Police Officer Anthony Ward of the SWAT unit was in a fatal car accident on April 20, 2024.

On April 20, 2024, at around 7:04 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Maude Avenue to investigate a call for an aggravated assault by shooting.

On April 18, 2024, at approximately 4 a.m., members of the Group Violence Unit (GVU) were conducting an extensive months-long drug and guns investigation.
