On January 15, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m., a 51-year-old male stopped a Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) police officer and requested medical assistance.

The officer observed that the victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. BPD officers were notified about the incident and located a crime scene in the 400 block of Eutaw Street.

Central District Shooting detectives assumed control over the investigation. Detectives learned that the suspect and victim had a verbal dispute at a local tavern just before the shooting.

Later that day, 61-year-old Michael Breckenridge contacted investigators, turned over his handgun to detectives and issued a formal statement about the shooting.

The States Attorney’s Office approved criminal charges and Breckenridge was placed under arrest.

Michael Breckenridge was subsequently transported to the Baltimore City Central Booking and Intake Center where he was formally charged with 1st Degree Assault and related firearm offenses.
