Eastern District Homicide Arrest 

In reference to the homicide that occurred on May 14, 2023, in the Eastern District, investigators have arrested 21-year-old Montrez Cherry-Braxton of Baltimore.

Investigators learned that Cherry-Braxton shot and killed 18-year-old Jamal Martin while in the 2300 block of Homewood Avenue.

Detectives arrested Montrez Cherry-Braxton on June 13, 2023, and transported him to Central Booking Intake Facility where he has been charged with 1st degree murder.

Eastern District Homicide Investigation

On May 14, 2023, at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Bartlett Avenue for a Shot Spotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
