On March 24, 2023, at 5:06 p.m., Eastern District officers responded to a discharging and two ShotSpotter alerts in the 3000 block of East Preston Street.

Once at the location, officers observed a 19-year-old male suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest. Medics administered life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide detectives were notified and assumed control of the investigation.
