The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) is investigating a series of carjacking and auto theft incidents that occurred on September 23 and 24, 2024, resulting in multiple arrests.

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of an unarmed carjacking in the 6200 block of Winner Avenue, where a Lexus RX was reported stolen. At approximately 10:48 a.m., another unarmed carjacking attempt was reported in the 4800 block of Nurton Avenue, where the previously stolen Lexus was used in the crime. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 12:10 p.m., officers took a report of a stolen vehicle, a Toyota Corolla in the 3400 block of Cedardale Road. Witnesses observed individuals exiting the stolen Lexus before fleeing in both vehicles.

In response to these crimes, Citywide Robbery Detectives obtained CCTV footage from the Winner Avenue incident, which led to the identification of one of a 14-year-old male suspect. The Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATT) was deployed to the area to further investigate.

The following day, September 24, 2024, at approximately 8:09 a.m., officers received another report of an unarmed carjacking in the 1800 block of Kelly Avenue, where a Silver Honda Accord was taken. The suspects used the stolen Lexus RX to strike the Honda, facilitating the carjacking in a "bump-and-run" maneuver. Officers were simultaneously dispatched to a crash site in the 2600 block of Park Heights Terrace, where the Lexus RX crashed shortly after the Kelly Avenue carjacking. The suspects fled the scene in the Silver Honda after the accident.

RATT detectives conducted a canvass of the area and discovered both the stolen Toyota Corolla and the Silver Honda parked and unoccupied. As the investigation progressed, RATT detectives, with assistance from the Baltimore County Aviation Unit, located and apprehended the 14-year-old male suspect and his accomplice, a 15-year-old female suspect, in the Toyota Corolla in the 3200 block of Buleith Avenue. Concurrently, a 16-year-old male suspect was arrested after the Silver Honda was stopped in the 4800 block of Reisterstown Road.

CCTV footage linked the 16-year-old male suspect to the carjacking on Kelly Avenue, as he was observed wearing the same clothing at the time of his arrest. He was transported to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) and later released to a guardian. The 16-year-old suspect was previously arrested for theft of a motor vehicle in June 2024.

It is important to note that the 14-year-old male suspect was on court-mandated GPS monitoring at the time of these incidents, following four previous arrests in 2024 to including armed robbery, stolen autos and assault. The 14-year-old male suspect is currently facing charges related to all four robberies and is being detained at DJS.

The investigation remains ongoing, and we encourage anyone with additional information pertinent to this case to contact Citywide Robbery Detectives at 410-366-6341 or submit an anonymous tip with Metro Crime Stoppers tip-line, at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
