 Eastern District Stolen Auto Arrest

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATT) were patrolling the area of Sinclair Lane and Edison Highway, when they observed a 2007 blue Honda Accord that had been reported stolen on March 14, 2024, from the Central District.

The detectives tried to initiate a stop on East Federal Street. Upon seeing the police vehicles approaching, the driver fled the scene. In an attempt to escape, the driver crashed into a parked vehicle and became immobilized, finally coming to a stop in the area of the 100 block of North Lakewood Street. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Keith Thomas, exited the vehicle and was apprehended without incident. The suspect declined medical assistance and was then taken to the Central booking intake facility for processing.

Southwest District Attempted Auto Theft Arrest

On March 19, 2024, at approximately 1:03 p.m., the Southwest District patrol received a call regarding an Attempted Auto Theft in progress. The caller provided information that a subject was in the process of trying to steal a red vehicle located in the 200 block of Wilkens Avenue. The Mobile Metro units swiftly arrived at the scene and witnessed a younger black male approaching the vehicle and kneeling by the driver's side. The Detective on duty quickly approached the individual, who promptly fled the scene, crossing over Wilkens Avenue. Subsequently, the Detectives successfully apprehended a 14-year-old male suspect without any significant incident. During the arrest, two flathead screwdrivers were recovered from the suspect. Additionally, Detectives noticed the presence of a GPS monitor strapped to the suspect's ankle. When questioned about his probation status, the suspect declined to provide specific details, stating, "Doesn't matter, I will be home later." Detectives observed visible damage to the driver's door handle of the vehicle the suspect was kneeling beside; the lock was found on the ground. The suspect was then transported to juvenile booking for further processing.

Eastern District Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On March 19, 2024, Metro Mobile Unit officers working out of the Eastern District conducted a vehicle stop in the 3100 block of Lyndale Avenue, after receiving a possible stolen hit.

Following a short investigation, officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Pennsylvania.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were identified as a 16-year-old female and male.

Both juveniles were taken into custody and released to their guardians on the scene.

Western District Carjacking Arrest

On March 20, 2024, a Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (RATT) officer was traveling south on Argyle Avenue at Mosher Street, when he received a stolen hit on a Honda Civic.

That officer immediately requested additional units as well as the assistance of the Baltimore County Police Aviation Unit.

Officers initiated a stop of that vehicle in the 100 block of McMechen Street, when both the driver and passenger of the vehicle fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, officers arrested a 16- and 17-year-old male. From the scene, officers recovered a loaded handgun that was discarded by the 16-year-old driver during the pursuit.

The 16-year-old male was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility where he was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and several handgun violations while the 17-year-old male was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center for processing.

Investigators learned that the vehicle was taken on March 17, 2024, in a carjacking of a food delivery driver that occurred in the 500 block of Richwood Avenue.

Citywide Robbery detectives are continuing to investigate this incident.
