Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash Investigation With Arrests
On Jan. 8, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of Foxtrot were observing a vehicle with stolen tags traveling through the Western District.
Officers in the area were notified of this vehicle and attempted to conduct a car stop. The vehicle refused to stop and began driving at a high rate of speed in the 2700 block of West Franklin Street, resulting in the vehicle striking another vehicle.
Both vehicles were disabled, and three male suspects were observed bailing out of the vehicle. Officers apprehended two of the suspects.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered life-threatening injuries. Medics arrived on the scene, and despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
One suspect was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries and, upon release, will be charged. The second suspect was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he will be charged accordingly.
C.R.A.S.H. Team investigators were summoned to the scene and assumed control over the investigation.
