Western District Shooting Investigation Upgraded to Homicide

Update: On January 16, 2023, at 312 a.m., 23-year-old Kwantez Charles Henson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue to Investigate several shot-spotter alerts.

Once at the location, officers located a 23-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head and neck. The victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition. The victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

A second 52-year-old male victim was located suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Central District Shooting Investigation

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Central District patrol officers were patrolling the 1000 block of Park Avenue when they were flagged down by a 50-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left shoulder.

The victim stated to officers that he was in the 300 block of Franklin Street, walking to his car, when a known suspect shot him.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
