Southeast District Fatal Hit & Run Arrest

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 9:57 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Pulaski Highway, for a report of a pedestrian involved hit & run.

Once there, officers learned that the driver of a 2009 Mazda struck a 31-year-old male driving an electric scooter. The driver of the Mazda did not remain on the scene but was quickly located a short time later in the 2800 block of Jefferson Street, by a Southeast District Action Team Sergeant.

The 16-year-old driver was arrested and transported to the Department of Juvenile Services where he was charged.

The 31-year-old scooter driver died at an area hospital.

Crash Team Detectives are investigating this incident.

Western District Shooting Investigation

On July 23, 2024, at around 8:06 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of McCulloh Street to investigate a ShotSpotter Alert and shortly after a call for a shooting. 

Upon arrival, officers observed a 21-year-old female and an adult male, both suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. Medics transported the victims to an area hospital where they will be treated for their injuries. 

A short time later, officers received a call for a walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, officers observed an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

Western District Shooting detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.
