Fatal Vehicle Accident Investigation

On July 26, 2024, at around 8:46 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Pulaski Highway to investigate a call for a three-vehicle accident with injuries. 

Upon arrival, officers were advised that one vehicle traveling eastbound in the 3900 block of  Pulaski Highway had struck two other vehicles traveling westbound in the 3900 block of Pulaski Highway. The striking vehicle's driver, a 28-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the two vehicles that were struck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

AIU detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.

Fatal Vehicle Accident Investigation

On July 26, 2024, at around 5:25 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Caroline Street to investigate a call for a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. 

Upon arrival, officers were advised that the bicyclist, a 44-year-old male, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of South Caroline Street and Bank Street. After being struck by a vehicle, the bicyclist was ejected off of the bike, hit another vehicle that was stopped in the 400 block of South Caroline Street, and finally came to rest after hitting a third vehicle. Medics transported the bicyclist to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased.  

All three vehicles stayed on the scene. AIU detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.

Southwest District Shooting Investigation

On July 26, 2024, at around 4:52 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of West Saratoga Street to investigate calls for a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 14-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the rear alley of the 1800 block of West Saratoga Street. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital to receive treatment for his injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot in the 200 block of North Payton Street.

Southwest District Shooting detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.
