In reference to an aggravated assault and sexual assault that occurred Nov. 7, 2023, at approximately 6:09 p.m. in Leakin Park, detectives have arrested 46-year-old Charles Avon Taylor of Baltimore.

Investigators learned that Taylor assaulted the 71-year-old victim while in Leakin Park.

On Nov. 21, 2023, investigators arrested Charles Avon Taylor in Towson. Detectives transported Taylor to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he will be charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, sex offense, kidnapping and additional charges.

Suspect’s Identity Sought

In reference to an aggravated assault and sexual assault that occurred Nov. 7, 2023, at approximately 6:09 p.m. in Leakin Park, detectives need the public's help in identifying the suspect responsible. 

Officers responded to the 4300 – 4400 block of North Franklintown Road and spoke with a 71-year-old female, who stated that she was physically and sexually assaulted by an unidentified male during a walk through the Gwynns Falls Trail. 

The victim stated an unidentified male struck up a conversation with her and began to follow her. He quickly grabbed the victim and brandished a handgun. 

The victim attempted to flee from the suspect, resulting in a violent physical assault. The victim eventually managed to escape and find help.

The victim suffered severe injuries during the assaults, and medics transported her to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a bald, light-skinned black male, approximately in his 40s, standing at around 5’9’’, wearing a dark jacket and plastic glasses.   

Northwest District Detectives and the department’s Special Investigations Section are investigating this incident.
