Southwest District Murder Arrest

In reference to the quintuple shooting that occurred on January 4, 2023, in the 4400 block of Edmondson Avenue, detectives have arrested a 16-year-old male.
Homicide detectives assumed control of the investigation and learned that the suspect shot into a group of students, killing 16-year-old Deanta Dorsey, and wounding two 17-year-old males and two 18-year-old males.
On February 15, 2023, detectives arrested the 16-year-old male suspect.
The suspect is currently being held at Central Booking Intake Facility and was charged with 1st Degree Murder.

On January 4, 2023, at approximately 11:18 a.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 4400 block of Edmondson Avenue for a report of a shooting with multiple victims.
Once there, officers located a 16-year-old male, two 17-year-old males, and two 18-year-old males, all of whom were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Medics transported the victims to area hospitals, where the 16-year-old male victim later died. The four living victim’s conditions are unknown at this time.
